Hasta este día, el coloso se encuentra en el Semáforo de Alerta Volcánica amarillo Fase 2 y un Comité Científico Asesor lo vigila las 24 horas.
De gira por Toluca, el titular de la Protección Civil nacional, David León Romero aseguró que la actividad de 100 exhalaciones al día y una explosión cada tercer día del cráter, estaban previstas.
Llamó a la población asentada entorno al coloso a estar en calma, pero atenta sobre las recomendaciones del comportamiento de Don Goyo y posible caída de ceniza para cubrirse la boca y proteger el agua de este material volcánico.
Entorno a el Popocatépetl a una distancia de 15 kilómetros existe una población de 40 mil y a 100 kilómetros 25 millones de los estados Puebla, Morelos, Tlaxcala, Hidalgo y Estado de México.
