El día de hoy se cumplen 236 años del nacimiento de Vicente Guerrero, pero ¿Quién fue éste personaje? aquí le presentamos 8 datos.
- Su Nombre completo era Vicente Ramón Guerrero Saldaña y fue un militarmexicano, militante y jefe de la insurgencia en la etapa de Resistencia (1816–1821) de la guerra de Independencia de México.
- Desde joven se dedicó a la armería, para ayudar a su padre, quien era asistente de armero.
- Expidió el decreto de la abolición de la esclavitud promulgado por Miguel Hidalgo.
4- Tras varios enfrentamientos con el general Agustín de Iturbide entre diciembre de 1820 y enero de 1821 en los cuales Iturbide no puede derrotar al caudillo, Iturbide cambia de bando y le propone a Guerrero una alianza por la independencia en el conocido Abrazo de Acatempan.
5- Fue miembro del Supremo Poder Ejecutivo (1823–1824), Ministro de Guerra y Marina (1828) y fue el segundo presidente de México, dicho cargo lo ocupó del 1 de abril al 17 de diciembre de 1829.
6- Por Decreto del 16 de noviembre de 1833, fue declarado Benemérito de la Patria, y en 1849 se creó, en su honor, el estado de Guerrero.
7- Guerrero aceptó la propuesta de Iturbide y el 24 de febrero se promulga el Plan de Iguala con el cual se unen los ejércitos (insurgente y realista) formando así al Ejército Trigarante. Finalmente, el 27 de septiembre, el Ejército Trigarante entra a la Ciudad de México, consumándose así la independencia mexicana.
8- Murió fusilado y sus restos reposaron en el Panteón de San Fernando, junto a su hija y yerno hasta 1925, cuando fueron trasladados a la Columna de la Independencia en la Ciudad de México y ahí descansaron hasta el 30 de mayo del 2010, fecha en que fueron trasladados al Museo Nacional de Historia para su conservación, análisis, autentificación y exhibición durante los festejos del bicentenario de la independencia, al final del cual regresaron al monumento ya mencionado.
