Durante los recorridos de rutina, personal de ambas dependencias se percató que en uno de los ductos de Petroleros Mexicanos (Pemex), ubicado sobre un camino de terracería en Ejidos de Cuautlancingo, poblado de mismo nombre, estaba conectado un cople metálico con una manguera color rojo de aproximadamente 50 metros, además de tres vehículos aparentemente abandonados.
En el lugar se corroboró que se trataba de tres camionetas marcas Dina, tipo Pick-Up; Ford, tipo F150 Pick-Up, color amarillo, y Chevrolet Van de color gris.
En la primera unidad se localizaron tres bidones, color blanco, de 100 litros cada uno; un bidón, color azul, de 60 litros; dos contenedores con arnés metálico y capacidad de mil litros, cada uno, todos llenos al 80 por ciento de una sustancia con características propias de la gasolina.
La segunda camioneta transportaba dos contenedores con capacidad de mil litros llenos al 80 por ciento, mientras que en la última unidad se encontró un contenedor de mil litros al cinco por ciento de su capacidad y dos bidones de 60 litros al 80 por ciento; todos con hidrocarburo, dando un total aproximado de tres mil 890 litros del líquido referido.
En espera de personal de Seguridad de Pemex, se estableció el dispositivo de seguridad en la periferia para resguardar y posteriormente clausurar la toma clandestina, así mismo se solicitó apoyo de grúas a la Fiscalía General de la República (FGR), con sede en Texcoco, a fin de trasladar los automotores e iniciar la Carpeta de Investigación correspondiente.
