Al destacado especialista le fue otorgado el Premio al Mérito Profesional Regional 2018 de la Federación de Colegios y Asociaciones de Médicos Veterinarios Zootecnistas de México.
Toluca, Méx. – 15 de agosto de 2018. Por su contribución a la ciencia y destacada trayectoria profesional, el catedrático e investigador de la Facultad de Medicina Veterinaria y Zootecnia de la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México, Roberto Montes de Oca Jiménez, fue reconocido con el Premio al Mérito Profesional Regional 2018 de la Federación de Colegios y Asociaciones de Médicos Veterinarios Zootecnistas de México.
Esta distinción de carácter nacional reconoce la trayectoria académica, en el ámbito de la investigación y gremial del integrante del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (SNI), quien se distingue por sus aportes científicos, referentes para las escuelas y facultades de medicina veterinaria del país, con un impacto positivo para el medio ambiente, la salud animal y la salud pública.
El también director de este espacio universitario destaca por su participación en el diagnóstico epidemiológico animal, como el estudio de la clamidiosis en ovinos, bovinos, fauna silvestre, caballos e incluso, humanos; asimismo, el análisis de problemas de intoxicación en animales por plomo y su aporte para incrementar los niveles de selenio en ovinos, con el propósito de aumentar su eficiencia.
Además de incursionar en proyectos para el desarrollo de vacunas para el control de enfermedades en animales, Montes de Oca Jiménez contribuyó de manera importante en la apertura de programas de posgrado en la Facultad de Medicina Veterinaria y Zootecnia, de los cuales, la Especialidad en Producción Ovina tiene el reconocimiento de Competencia Internacional del Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACyT).
Roberto Montes de Oca Jiménez es integrante de la Federación de Colegios y Asociaciones de Médicos Veterinarios Zootecnistas de México, de la Asociación Mexicana de Patólogos Veterinarios, la Asociación Mexicana de Técnicos Especialistas en Ovinocultura, el Consejo Nacional de Certificación en Medicina Veterinaria y Zootecnia y del Consejo Nacional de Educación de la Medicina Veterinaria y Zootecnia.
El Premio al Mérito Profesional Regional 2018 se entrega anualmente en el marco de la celebración del Día del Médico Veterinario Zootecnista, en un evento al que acuden expertos de esta área del conocimiento de todo el país, representantes de instituciones de educación superior del país y servidores públicos.
